In North West Devon & North East Cornwall. Bounded to the North by the Atlantic & the Bristol Channel between Crackington Haven & Bideford Bar; to the East by the River Torridge from Bideford Bar to Torrington, thence by the B3220 road to Morchard Road, thence by the A377 road to Copplestone, thence by various minor roads to Dunsford; to the South by the B3212 road from Dunsford to Two Bridges, thence by the B3357 road to Tavistock, &; to the West by the B3362 road from Tavistock to the junction with the A388 road near Lawhitton, thence by the A388 road to Launceston, thence by the A30 road to Kennards House, thence by the A395 road to Hallworthy thence by various minor roads to Crackington Haven.
Overall an exceptionally varied country with good moorland meets on the around Chagford & Tavistock, cliff top ones on the North coast, & excellent "in-country" ones around Winkleigh, North Tawton & Holsworthy.
Except on Dartmoor where some of the traditional meets have been designated as access land & have been spoiled by dog walking, the hare population has remained stable or has increased throughout the country. On the fringes of the country, the losses on Dartmoor have been more than compensated for by notable increases in the already satisfactory populations around Bude & Holsworthy & the development of populations around Torrington & Launceston where hares had been scarce until recently. |

The hunt was established in 1960 by Mr Charles Hooley, who was also Master of the Mid-Devon Foxhounds.
Amalgamated with the Stoke Hill Beagles in 2011. |
